How To Easily Edit Footer Copyright Credits, Genesis Themes
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to edit footer copyright credits of your blog or website.
Please note, this tutorial is specific to WordPress websites running the Genesis Framework.
The simplest way to do this is by using the plugin Genesis Simple Edits. This plugin will allow you to edit, customize or remove the footer copyright and credits without editing your theme files.
I’m going to display 5 footer copyright variations from my theme Bella Beauty with images and instructions on how I created each one, and how you can too!
Let’s get into the tutorial …
First, Install the Genesis Simple Edits Plugin
1. After you are logged into your WordPress dashboard click on “Plugins” then “Add New”
2. In the search box, search the plugin’s name.
3. Click “Install” then “Activate”
4. The plugin is now installed.
5. Navigate to “Genesis” > “Simple Edits”
Variation One: Go minimal with just your copyrights and blog name
Navigate to “Genesis” > “Simple Edits”
1. Footer Credits Text:
Copyright [footer_copyright] · YOUR BRAND NAME
2. Save
Variation Two: Add your copyrights, your blog name and a link
You could add any kind of link you like, such as a link to your contact page, or legal pages (terms and conditions, privacy and affiliate disclosure).
Note: If your website doesn’t have proper legal pages, you need to protect yourself and get The Legal Bundle!
You can even add affiliate links to your copyrights – such as the theme, framework or web designer to earn revenue.
Navigate to “Genesis” > “Simple Edits”
1. Tick ‘Modify Entire Footer Text (including markup)?’
2. Insert the following code, replacing caps text with your own desired text
Variation Three: Remove the copyrights entirely
Navigate to “Genesis” > “Simple Edits”
1. Tick ‘Modify Entire Footer Text (including markup)?’
2. Save
And that’s it! I hope this tutorial was helpful for you in easily customizing your footer credits.
